While we publish our guides to give you all the inside knowledge about the wines where you’re going, we’re also happy to offer guided tours by our writers!
Empordà’s Windswept Wines
Most people will know Empordà (the most Northern & Eastern region of Spain) as the birthplace of the famous surrealist painter, Salvador Dalí. But, it also has the distinction of having a vibrant wine growing culture for the last 2,500 years. In the last decade, a new batch of winemakers have come on to the scene to work with the traditional grapes of the region (primarily Garnatxa and Carinyena) to produce wonderful, modern wines with an eye towards craft instead of bulk.
Blasted by the Tramuntana wind year-round and bathed in tremendous amounts of sun (the beach is just 15 minutes away after all) this region produces bold wines that are at the same time understated, refined, unique, and speak well of the locale in which they’re grown. It offers up a selection of wines from over 40 wineries that appeal to any level of wine drinker.
We offer scalable tours to expose you to these wines as well as the delicious culinary traditions in the region.
